The Meadowlands is the third studio album by American indie rock band the Wrens, released by Absolutely Kosher Records on September 9, 2003, and in the UK two years later on September 19, 2005 by LO-MAX Records and in Germany by BB Island. Recording of the album originally began in January 1999, but writer's block and a loss of faith in the tracks they were recording meant the band took four years to complete the album, with many songs being rewritten or scrapped as recording proceeded. Named after. The Wrens - The Meadowlands - Full Album. Unwound Leaves Turn Inside You 2001. The Meadowlands. Absolutely Kosher. If The Wrens were lyrically powerful when writing from third-person perspectives about trivial fantasies on Secaucus, they're devastating delivering their own personal failures, hardships and resignations. The breakup tracks are the least of it, and even those are masochistically autobiographical with recurring characters and story arcs bridging songs. Альбом 2003 Песен: 13. After seven years of waiting, four years of struggling in the studio and a change of label, The Wrens released their third album The Meadowlands, to universal acclaim except for from Q. The title derives from the New Jersey Meadowlands, a protected environment that stretches all the way to Newark Bay. The Meadowlands Q&A. The Wrens' third album, The Meadowlands, is a sprawling, shifting affair, perhaps reflecting the fact that it took four years to create. It's easy to take the sweet, slightly alt-country 13 Months in 6 Minutes at face value - the song's epic feel suggests the passing of a considerable chunk of time, and at the Wrens' pace, it's possible that it did take over a year to craft. Rather fittingly, the album itself is also long, and the way that its songs jump and shift in tone and mood suggests a series of journal entries strung together, connected loosely by a. When recording had started in 1999, the Wrens had originally agreed to release the new album on Drive-Thru Records owned by Richard and Stephanie Reines, friends of the band. However, by the time the album was ready the group decided that it did not fit with the typical sound of the bands on the Drive-Thru label and instead opted to release it on Absolutely Kosher Records, run by another friend of theirs, Cory Brown. Genre: Indie Rock. It's possible that The Meadowlands might be a better album if it were more focused and logical, but there's something to be said for its immersive, stream-of-consciousness approach. Full Review. The Wrens - The Meadowlands review: You keep saying Jersey's not a home. The Meadowlands, aptly titled, is the third record from New Jersey natives The Wrens, and it is a sprawling epic of morose imagery, defeated prose and superb guitar rock. Charles Bissel may be having a rough time, but the key heavy, reverb drenched, guitar-pop wont allow him to hold The Wrens down. That is not to say that Charles performance or lyrics are a determent, he is probably The Wrens strongest asset
