Sam's Town is the second studio album by American rock band The Killers. It was released on September 27, 2006, by Island Records. Regarding the album, vocalist and primary lyricist Brandon Flowers noted that he wanted to create an album that captured, chronologically, everything important that got me to where I am today. Sam's Town has sold almost five million copies worldwide. Music video by The Killers performing Sam's Town. C 2007 The Island Def Jam Music Group Subscribe: https. The album is the bands fifth consecutive number one in the U. and Brandon Flowers seventh U. number one overall. Connect with The Killers online: s Town, the second album by American indie-rock group The Killers, leaves synths and vocal manipulation behind in an attempt at capturing the ostentatious showmanship of the American West. The album name is taken from a casino in Las Vegas, the groups hometown. Interestingly, Sams Town Hotel and Gambling Hall sits on the corner of Flamingo Road, which would later provide the name for frontman Brandon Flowers first solo album. The record spawned four singles: the ultra-successful lead, When You Were Young, which was followed by Bones, Read My Mind and For Reasons Unknown. Came here specifically to comment on "meh" sound quality and saw others confirmed my assessment. Blessed with a high-quality system, I can easily hear production/mixing quality on albums, and this one just doesn't have it. No doubt -- it's better than the picture disc -- but if you're expecting this "Remaster" to be as earphoric as something like a MoFi release, don't get your hopes (or expectations) up.
Going to have to concur with some reviews below that this isn't the best quality pressing, which is surprising because the other Bong Load releases I have are great. I also don't like the packaging, it aims for fancy but comes off as just extraneous (and too long). Still - it's not terrible. The sound is nice enough, just not fantastic.
Bought this directly from Bong Load Europe - couldn't be more pleased. This version is as good as the picture disc is awful (which it most definitely is)
All in all I am not happy with this reissue. The vinyl is noisy, it does not sound very impressive (to be fair the original CD does not as well) and it looks dull and has a lot of marks. Packaging does not look very good as well (somehow cheap to me). I would not buy this release again.
generation of new
Love the sound and feel of this release. I noticed that the credits above don't mention that this release was re-mastered by Don Tyler (he's done some great records). After I received the album I gave it a basic cleaning, just like all of my records. I have a pretty decent hi-fi setup and the remastering sounds less compressed than the original. The hard cover and packaging is super classy and for sure is worth the money. I really wish the new remastered version was available in a hi-rez digital format, it kills the original. I recently ordered a few more records from bong load and I had no idea of the history of this label until recently. $45 for a hard cover, remastered, double LP, new photos and individually numbered, good deal for me, love it.
This is available again over at Bongload for anyone looking. It's not cheap, but better than these ridiculous flipper prices...
Does anyone know if this includes signed inner? The last image appears to suggest this
Trash Obsession
Mine was not signed. (adding six more words to post.)
Mine didn't include a signed inner. I know some fans were able to get theirs signed at the Sam's Town 10th Anniversary shows in October so I assume that's what the last picture is from.
Gold Crown
I've had 30 year old albums with less clicks and pops, not happy. The high price was paid for the packaging not the pressing. It looked smudged and scratched right out of the gate!!
funny, the first LP was clean and quiet and the second LP was dirty and loud. Amazing how they are able to pull that off.
Mine sounds pretty good. Gave it a wet clean and all the shit from the plant came right off.
Mine had some smudges and actually has a white paint mark stuck on the dead wax. Definitely needs a cleaningIt plays fine thus far however.
mine is almost totally quiet with no surface marks. Seems to be a quality pressing to me
Brick my own
What's with the insane prices? Plenty of record stores around my house have copies for $45 and 5000 doesn't particularly limited
LoLz - then you don't know what limited means. If this had been released when vinyl was big, this would have been limited to at least 200,000., probably more. Seriously.
Haha it was definitely the Bong Load release, I know because I bought two. In any case the prices have normalized somewhat since I posted, people were originally trying to get $200 which is absurd
Steamy Ibis
It's supply vs demand, yes 5000 is not particularly limited but it's a widely popular album that has only had a picture disk release prior to this. It's also US/EU only. I'm also certain your local stores only have the picture disk and not this particular release as it's a Bong Load exclusive release.
Only 5? Well, 5000 is a lot for the entire planet. And these guys are obviously one of the best bands in the world. With millions of fans and two bonus songs, well....you go do the math.
Well i do in fact, I have five within twenty minutes of my house. Still, it's not a particularly limited pressing nonetheless
Your house must be in an amazing town full of record stores!
Anyone have any thoughts on this pressing yet? I'm spinning it right now - sounds pretty good to my ears. Low end is a little bit muddy, but this is easily the best this album has ever sounded to me.
Love Me
It's a quality pressing! I've listened to it over 100 times already and its clear as can be. I think Jesus must have pressed this to vinyl, because man....talk about quality!!!!!!!!
It sounds great. The last vinyl was hard to put on the platter, the hole was a bit too tight. But it was great. Apart the last "song", the Pet Shop Boys remix... 7 minutes of boring music, for me. I can't understand why they put this on the record.
Just listened to my copy, sounds superb to me. My system isn't too bass heavy though so YMMV. Beautiful pressing overall though
