The album is the first to be released after the Eagles had reformed following a fourteen-year-long break up. The band's lineup was that of the Long Run era: Glenn Frey, Don Henley, Don Felder, Joe Walsh, and Timothy B. It contains four new studio tracks and eleven tracks recorded live in April 1994 for an MTV special. Two Top 40 Mainstream singles, Get Over It and Love Will Keep Us Alive, were released from the. Hell Freezes Over Live. Eagles 1994 UMG Recordings, Inc. Get Over It. Hell Freezes Over is a live album by the Eagles, released in 1994. The album contains four new studio tracks and eleven tracks recorded live for an MTV special. It went to 1 on the Billboard album chart upon its release where it stayed for two weeks. It is the band's second live album behind their live album in 1980. Essentially, Hell Freezes Over contains an EP's worth of new material followed by a live album. The Eagles, known for meticulously re-creating their studio recordings in concert, nevertheless released an earlier concert recording, Eagles Live, in 1980. Six songs from that set reappear here, and only one is in a noticeably different arrangement, with Hotel California receiving the acoustic treatment. Hell Freezes Over was the wickedly droll title of the album that emerged from the Eagles reunion performance for an MTV special in the spring of 1994. Their first new disc since Henleys famous statement, it consisted of 11 tracks from that show and four new studio recordings. On the Billboard chart for 26 November of that year, it replaced another MTV-inspired release, Nirvanas MTV Unplugged In New York, at the top of the album bestsellers. Listen to Hell Freezes Over right now. The bands 1980 split that followed the album The Long Run was, to say the least, emphatic. I went to the Hell Freezes Over concert at the Blockbuster Pavillion in Devore California way back when. A pair of women thieves orchestrated a bump and grab - one on the left and one on the right and took my memorabilia before I made it to the parking lot. Finally, I broke down and purchased this specifically because I like the unique intro to Hotel California. The Hell Freezes Over CD is perhaps their finest live album ever, with four new songs at the start and most of their best hits live. Timothy B Schmit's voice is amazing on the tracks he sings. My copy sounds really good seriously, bought at real cheap price on Amazon deal prime. No cracks, no background, no pop or hiss, sound clear, bass is a little flat maybe on side 1 but the live sides sound with a nice presence sound. The bass drum on Hotel California really sounds loud like it should be, very impressed. No problem with my copy overall! They could have include a digital Mp3 download altough.
A really disappointing release. Brickwalled digital terribly compressed sound. Wasted my money on this one. Side C has lots of crunchy surface noise. Avoid.
I am surprised this is getting any mixed reviews. Maybe there were some manufacturing duds, my copy sounds excellent. I never had the first press, but I am very pleased with this overall. The record discs were clean, more so than a lot of new records I have opened, but I did clean it first as I do with almost any record I add to my collection.
A barely average sounding press, of a recording with legendary fidelity. Must continue the quest of finding an original pressing in the wild.
hi I have one how much are you looking to spend ?
Will be any real US version of this release??I own 2 (two) copies of this EU remaster vinyl. The sound is pretty good, with decent dynamics. Only there are some many strange artefacts on medium to low frequencies on different passages, especially between the tracks (in concert zones) but also on some specific other tracks. Also, the pressing is really bad. Significant noise on low passages and between the tracks. The own noise of the vinyl is nothing better than a 40 years old vinyl that was listened for a while on mixed quality turntables. Owning two copies, I was able to compare them and to hear most of such noise and artefacts to be the same on both copies, at the same places and absolutely the same pattern, which shows that the master cut has issues from the begining. As far as I know, all these "german" and "european" editions are pressed in Slovakia, by a really cheap enterprise, so where the "quality" of the audiophile material came from. The conclusion is that both the master tape and the press had too many issues. Please don't ask about the cartdrige, stylus and so on. They are (MC) in very good shape, almost new, well above average quality (>600€) as well as the turntable, amplifier and so. And yes, I listened the 1st vinyl at the age of 11, almost 45 years ago so I know what to expect from some vinyl edition, anyversary or not.
My copy is perfect. No noise great sound of 180 gr. pressing.
If I switch my cartridge from AT33PTG/II to VM540ML, I have less noise, much less. For sure it's a matter of linearity. Also it depends what type of tone adjusments you do. Just as an exampe, today I received the following release:https://www.discogs.com/Yoshio-Otomo-Quartet-With-Tsuyoshi-Yamamoto-Moon-Ray/release/3871426Did you noticed? It's been pressed in 1977! Used vinyl, sold as NM. Believe me, on the same setup, this 1977 release has almost no noise, but Hell Freezes Over which is new, has plenty.
in wich points are you noticing this noise?I've received my european copy today and to me sounds absolutely perfect, with no noise and silent records.
I have been reading other reviews saying how well mastered this 25th Anniversary album is, but for me it couldn't be any further from the truth. The best way I can describe the sound is like a towel has been thrown over my speakers. My system is a brand new NAD C316BEE V2, a Dual 1219 (completely and 100% restored) with a Shure V15 Type III cartridge with a JICO SAS stylus, a Schitt Mani phono stage, and a pair of completely restored KLH Model 5 speakers (including a Pro recap of the crossovers). I have been playing vinyl since 1976. I also played the album through the same system except I swapped out the NAD with a 100% restored/recapped Luxman R-1040. I know what I'm talking about and I have good ears. I have been wondering if an older issue CD was used as the source.... I'm not saying it was, but for me this 25th Anniversary reissue isn't worth the vinyl it was pressed on..... period.
Naw dude, this press is lacking in a few areas
Clear sound here, I'm sure you don't know what you're talking about, you forget the age of your ears ;-)But seriously, to me, this release is pretty good. I suggest you buy a decent audio system.
Brilliant pressing - amazing sound... cannot speek for the first release(es)... but to me this as good as it get's....
I have the original Simply Vinyl release and it’s one of my favorite albums I own. The dynamics are amazing. I might buy one of these represses to compare to see how it stands up against the original. I’ve heard a lot of mixed opinions on the quality.
Hi, I'm going from memory , I sold my SV copy when prices were very high, always regretted it. This pressing has many of the qualities, good soundstage, strong lower frequencies, ie the timbales ( I think) at the start of hotel California. I think this pressing however does not have the high end extension that the SV version has. Dynamics are still strongThe packaging is lighter duty too, sleeves need replacing with decent ones too. Pressing quality seems fine no issues on my copy.Deck LP12 Alphason Hr100s (J7 rewire) Dynavector Karat D17mk3,
Mine sounds really good. Outside of being flat/quiet vinyl with no pressing issues, I think the dynamics are pretty solid. As mentioned, the bass is move alive and makes these songs feel alive. I had an original Japanese CD and never loved the thin sound. This is on the loud side for vinyl but it doesn't take that much away from it. I am pretty happy with this. I know it's gotten a lot of heat on the SH forums but it sounds nice to my ears and that's all I care about.
Amazing sound quality. Way better than any CD or XRCD version. The records are flat and dead quiet. This one is a winner.
This copy is amazing. So clear. The bass is more alive, the drums more impactful and the guitars on Hotel California are just...wow. Vocals are crystal.
So can anybody kindly tell what is the difference between this and Cat. No. B0029382 where both are 2019 Eu versions?
i don't see any difference. this release is more correct in terms of cat #. Mine has a "Made in Germany" sticker at the back tho.
I would say nothing. That cat# looks like a barcode. I could be wrong though.
I don't know why they have some problems, but my copy of this remastered 25th Anniversary album has a beautiful dynamic sound.
This remaster has horrible dynamics. I wouldn't be surprised if the CD version was used for the master of this vinyl release.
I just posted my review of this album above... MusicWhiz88: I agree with you 100%!
rodercot When did you get yours? I ordered a copy around January if memory serves but still waiting. They did not ship in Canada, all back ordered including amazon, maybe they felt guilty about the SQ and did a re-call....but not likely!!! Amazon.com isn't backordered and they do ship to Canada. https://www.amazon.com/Hell-Freezes-Over-LP-Remastered/dp/B07MCXWP1M

lucky kitten
ok thank you for your kind response. appreciate it v much
This is widely distributed in the US market and is essentially a US release as well, it was just manufactured in the EU (Germany specifically) I purchased this from Amazon.com
