22, A Million is the third studio album by American indie folk band Bon Iver, released on September 30, 2016. It was recorded in Justin Vernon's April Base studio in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, and marked a shift in the band's sound, incorporating elements of electronic music and hip-hop production, and making extensive use of samples, synths, brass instruments, and effects. Vernon has stated that many of the sounds on the record were created and manipulated using a Teenage Engineering OP-1 synthesizer. 00000 Million '22, A Million' is part love letter, part final resting place of two decades of searching for self-understanding like a religion. And the inner-resolution of maybe never finding that understanding. The albums 10 poly-fi recordings are a collection of sacred moments, loves torment and salvation, contexts of intense memories, signs that you can pin meaning onto or disregard as coincidence. If Bon Iver, Bon Iver built a habitat rooted in physical spaces, then '22, A Million' is the letting go of that attachment to a place. If Bon Iver, Bon Iver built a habitat rooted in physical spaces, then 22, A Million is the letting go of that attachment to a place. The album received critical acclaim, with Q Magazine calling it Vernons most intricately affecting music yet. 22, A Million Q&A. Cameron Wittig & Crystal Quinn. Whod have thought that a bearded guy from the wilds of Wisconsin could help shape music from Chicago to London and beyond But Bon Ivers Justin Vernon has done just that. 22, A Million worked up over a five-year gap during which he doubted Bon Ivers future often feels like the work of an artist starting over from scratch. 10dEAThbREasT staggers through shredded-woofer beats and abraded, dubstep-grade bass shudders, while Vernons layered declarations about a love struggle bubble up amid warp-speed samples from a bootlegged version of Stevie Nicks Wild Heart, it turns out. Album 2016 10 Songs. Made during a five-year period when Justin Vernon contemplated ditching the project altogether, 22, A Million perfects the sound alloyed on 2011s Bon Iver: ethereal but direct, layered but stripped-back, as processed as EDM yet naked as a fallen branch. The songs here run together as though being uncovered in real time, with highlights- 29 Strafford APTS, 8 circle -flashing in the haze. 10 d E A T h b R E a s T . The ten songs of 22, A Million are a collection of sacred moments, loves torment and salvation, contexts of intense memories, signs that you can pin meaning onto or disregard as coincidence. Bon Ivers first album in five years takes an unexpected turn toward the strange and experimental. But behind the arranged glitches and processed voices are deeply felt songs about uncertainty. Theres a line deep in Thomas Pynchons Inherent Vice wherein Doc, a small-time stoner-sleuth, considers the dissolution of the 1960s, wondering if the decade wasnt merely a little parenthesis of light, might close after all, and all be lost, taken back into darkness. I wish to complain about this record in the strongest terms, as when my copy came in the mail the corners of the sleeve were all bent and crumpled. I sent a message to Bon Iver and his brother, Bon Jovi, using Twitter, but neither of them replied to me to offer to send a replacement, which I thought was very rude. Bon Iver AND Jovi, I will never be buying any of your record ever again!!
If no one has it already, I will be posting the limited Japanese vinyl of this album when it comes in next friday that is supposedly silver color! I work at a record store and special ordered it for my personal collection. Here's to hoping it has an OBI!
My recent reissue buy says it's 'Orange' (stated on sleeve sticker) - is this different to the 'Red' listed above?

I'm listening to this thinking it sounds like fog and there he is Andrew broder is in the credits, I mean how fn cool is that?
